La Rana Bistro is a small, locally owned restaurant in downtown Decorah, IA with a seasonal menu that highlights local produce, scratch-made dishes, and craft cocktails. We are open for lunch and dinner, Tuesday through Saturday.
We are seeking a skilled Evening Chef to join our culinary team--given our unique, one-person kitchen, this is a crucial position at the heart of our restaurant.
Duties
- Prepare and execute high-quality dishes in a fast-paced environment according to recipes and quality standards
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food
- Assist in menu planning and contribute creative ideas for new dishes
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area
- Monitor food stock levels and place orders as needed
- Work smoothly with our team and maintain an efficient and positive dynamic across both front and back of house staff.
Qualifications:
- Preferred but not required: previous experience in a culinary role, preferably in fine dining or catering
- Some knowledge of kitchen equipment and cooking techniques, or willingness to practice/learn
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Openness to feedback and dedication to improvement
