This auger is used to drill out a 2" pvc pipe from a fitting so the fitting (socket) can receive a new pvc pipe. I needed and used this to drill out one cracked pvc pipe and it worked well. Was $25 at Home Depot and I'm fairly confident I will not use this tool again. Like new, used once.
